AUG. 13 - TO BE CONTINUED....
Jubilee Park in Yorkton was the scene of an exciting Thursday evenng.  The Yorkton Cardinals were trying to win their first league championship and had things going their way early as they jumped out to 3-0 and 4-2 leads.  With the skies opening up and the rain coming down, the Canora Supers answered back with 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 4.  Before the Cardinals could bat in the bottom of the sixth inning, the umpires announced that the game was suspended due to the weather.  It appeared that the game would be continued at a later date and picked up in the bottom of the 6th inning.  However, a call to the league executive was placed by the Cardinals, claiming the game should have ended in the last completed inning - which would have given them the win and the championship.  Both teams anxiously awaited the final decision in the dugouts while the rains continued to fall and the fans long gone home.  Eventually, it was decided that the game will be continued at a later date, with the game tied at 4 and the Cardinals due up in the bottom of the sixth inning.  There is no word on when the game will be continued.
AUG. 18 - CARDINALS TAKE THE TITLE
It took 5 days to complete game 4, but the ending was worth the wait for the Yorkton Cardinals.  The Cardinals won their first ever SESBL title, beating the Canora Supers 5-4 in an extra inning on Tuesday night.  Justin Stupak scored on a wild pitch from third base in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Cardinals the victory.  Tuesday's game was a continuation of last Thursday night's suspended game, where the teams were tied at 4 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Cardinals stranded 2 runners in both the sixth and seventh innings, while the Supers got their lead man on base in the seventh and eighth innings but stranded them on base each time.  Travis Nesbitt ended up getting the victory on the Cardinal mound, while Darcy Blommaert was tagged with the loss.
